Advertising Programs

Google Adsense

Probably the best known Advertising program on the web is Google Adsense. The concept here is simple, you place a block of code on your webpages and as visitors come through, some will click on ads and you receive money for the clicks. How much? That varies greatly because the people placing ads are bidding for position. So, some clicks may not register as being worth more than 1 cent, others could be worth several dollars. One of the things that affects this is the subject of the page. One of the great innovations of adsense was being able to automatically decide which ads to place on the page based on the text that existed there.

Adsense works. It all depends on the volume of traffic you get though and what you’re site is about. While I can’t disclose details you might expect to receive anywhere from 1 dollar per 1000 visitors up to 15 per 1000 visitors. (Vague enough?) I have at times received VERY healthy deposits from Google Adsense. (Minimum payout of $100)

The terms and conditions of Google adsense forbid you giving too detailed information out about the stats that you see. The terms and conditions of Adsense also now require a privacy policy. Some resources to help you create one: here’s a policy generator, some discussion at digitalpoint on the same and another discussion on the privacy policy requirement.

CPALead.com Surveys

CPALead.com – Pays $1 per user filling out a survey on your site. You can use the survey as a gateway to some of your offerings. (Instead of requiring users to pay for access to a file, they can fill out a survey.) It looks promising and I think you can choose the type of survey to match the site. It seems like a fair trade for certain types of sites to generate an income of some sort from otherwise free content. (Minimum payout $50)
