Real World Business Resources | Registered Agent Services | Mail Handling

For some time I’ve needed a place to collate some of the many real world business resources that I’ve run across in my work online. It’s hard to say that these all fall into the same category, but this will be a good catchall listing for those services that are unique, but quite handy.

First off, if you incorporate in a state other than your state of residence you will need a registered agent service. A registered agent acts as the in-state contact for the legal entity that is your LLC or corporation. Many offices that can help you incorporate can also perform this service. (It’s usually a requirement so the state AG can contact someone within the state if the company is involved in a suit, basically the registered agent gives the state legal jurisdiction.)

Incorp offers registered agent services in all 50 states and DC. The rate appears to be $99

Want a post office box or street address in another location?

EarthClassMail.com offers street addresses in LA/Hollywood/Portland/New York and PO Boxes in many other places…. They will scan the outside of envelopes received for you and let you choose how to handle it – fedex the contents to you, recycle/trash the contents/scan and email the contents.

Paperlessmail.com – does much the same as earthclassmail.com – they scan and email your postal mail to you via your email account (PDF files). You can have a street or po box address somewhere other than your physical location. I’m not sure, but they may just have a single location, but they also store and can send the originals along to you if necessary. (Plans start at $10/month) I also saw that cd archiving was an option. (You can also use this service to send mail through the postal service – which could be a good benefit if you’re oversease (quicker)). AKA paperlesspobox.com

This next one is more of a help for web page building – but….. contact forms have been an essential for many web pages. If you don’t want to fool with running the code for a form to email generator on your own site (or your host doesn’t allow it) you should take a look at this service for free form to mail hosting…. (you can have the form embedded in your page even… the end user doesn’t have to know you have used an outside service.)

emailmeform.com – allows free design/hosting/delivery of form information via email. Free accounts can setup multiple forms and have them delivered to multiple email addresses.
